Weekend Journal | Target Shoe Hunt

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the long absence. Honestly, it was hard to find motivation to write this past month.

So I've been going back and forth between either creating a Weekend Journal series either through youtube or through blog. In the end I decided to stick with blog form just because it lets me control how much of myself I want to put out there in the internet world.

This weekend was highlighted by two things:

1. My scavenger hunt for these Target shoes:

I recently started a new job. Which in contrast with my previous job, I work in an office with a standard 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. consistent schedule. I have to wear business attire so needlessly to say, my wardrobe needed some serious upgrading. (My previous job was being out in the community where some days I would dress in gym clothes based on the activities of my clients.) So I've been buying clothes here and there to get my wardrobe up to par with my new job. And when I saw these shoes at target (even though I didn't need new shoes) I thought these were perfect! But alas, of course they didn't have my size. And after a search through their online shoe selection, I could not purchase them online either. So my fiancee and I spent the weekend going to three different targets in our area to try to find them. In the end we found the pair pictured above, ideally I wanted the grey/olive pair but I wasn't able to find a pair. Luckily I scored this pair at the third target visit.

Just as an FYI the three target visits was in the course of two days. I wasn't crazy enough to do this all in one day XD

2. Wedding planning.

I recently got engaged to my boyfriend and this weekend was the first time we seriously sat down and searched wedding venues/vendors... and OMG WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE TO HAVE A WEDING?

We both came into this thinking a 15K budget would be enough to have everything we wanted but after this weekend... we seriously considered eloping and buying a house with the money we would spend on our wedding. But honestly, we both value our family and friends too much to elope without having them share our special day. As of right now the cheapest venue we found that would accommodate our guest count and have a view is 2,500. JUST THE VENUE. You have to account for food, cake, music, hair/makeup, and photographer venues as well. Plus there is also the question of buying the dress, tux, rings, and decorations/flowers for the special day. I finally understand why fiancee jokes around saying he missed the step after graduation where we were suppose to be earning 80K a year with our degrees.

Don't get me wrong there are lots of cheaper indoor venues but we both definitely want something with a view.

So what do we do? we also scheduled ourselves to view one of the venues... I'm not entirely sure if that is the right thing to do but I feel like I want to view the one place that has been my dream location since being here in San Diego. Actually hold on... there are two locations but the second location (small park/cliff area) in La Jolla Shores area is too small for our number of guest but I can look into surrounding areas/venues to see if we can find something available.

I guess another stress for the wedding is that before we even looked at venues we decided to lower our budget for the wedding. Remember that 15k budget? Yeah we cut it down to 10K so that gives us even less of a wiggle room. But the journey is just beginning so lets see how much we learn along the way shall we?
