Weekend Journal | Wedding Talk

Wedding Venues

First off let me start with saying that I have been slacking on wedding planning. I think its the dread of having to plan something that is going to be so expensive!!! This weekend we visited the UCSD Martin House. It has always been my first choice because of the location and the view! Having at UCSD is also something important to Matt since it is were we met. I went in telling myself that maybe I romanticized it and it wasn't going to be as breath taking as remembered.... WRONG I fell in love with it again! lol here are a few pictures that I took of the view...

Movies!

Matthew's birthday is this week and since he wanted to watch the Jungle Book, we went. OMG that movie is so good! The graphic are amazing and the kid is such a good actor. I totally recommend you watch it.

Weekend Journal | WONDERCON 2016

Saturday

Drove this weekend to Los Angeles to spend Easter weekend with my little sister before she went back to UC Santa Cruz. Our plans for the weekend had been set a month before, where Silvia (my sis) knew she wanted to attend this Wondercon event and was curious if Matt wanted to join her as well. One thing led to another and I ended up buying a ticket to the event as well. I wasn't really excited about it since this is more my fianee and sis kind of stuff but two weeks ago I found out that they would have an early realize of the Justice League vs Teen Titans following the same arc that the past three Batman animated movies have followed. If its one thing that I love from comics its anything Batman and Young Justice related since I have loved the animated arcs that have come out for those.
So Saturday was a full day at the convention. I had fun walking around with them and going to the panels but my definite highlight was going to see the premiere. I highly recommend the movie! I like the plot twists they put in it in regards to potential romances and it had really good humor as well.

Sunday:

Lazy day! Mom and I thought we would go shopping only to realize that most stores were closed for Easter Holiday so we just spend the day together and then in the evening Matt and I had to head back to SD. Fun little activity we have been doing with Matt on the drives over has been listening to Latin music to try and find songs we want for the reception. So far? After six or so hours we only have ten... We are trying to keep it clean and romantic but a lot of what has been on my playlist is not appropriate for a wedding i.e. about a broken heart.
Oh btw! the new season of Daredevil is awesome! I've only seen four episodes so far but its good so far!
Just leaving this here...

Friday Favorites

So I have been in the lookout for a good powder foundation that won't be caked, has good oily control, and doesn't cling to dry patches.

I tried Make Up Forever's Demimatte on the recommendation from a Sephora employee. And although yes it looks amazing at the first application I find myself needing to blot before lunch and after leaving work. So that didn't works so well.

Next I went back and forth in trying the Infallable powder foundation since the liquid form was so good to me. Unfortunately I couldn't find a color that matched me well. ( I should have known better I have the same problem with the liquid one but at least with that one I could mix it with other foundations already in my collection.)

I ended up rebuying my Maybelline dream Wonder Powder. I got a shade up since I thought my last powder was a hair light but this next color is a bit orange. Or it may be just me. Because I also placed an order for BH Cosmetic powders. I got #230 and #235, I searched both in my hand and I know that #230 leans slightly yellow but in my face it looks orange? At least in certain lighting. But anyway those powders (only got them $5 each because of a sale) are totally worth it!! I was worried about testing them out today cause I was going to be doing some light lifting and walking for walk but I figured what the heck. And OMG I only had to blot seven hours into wear AFTER the lifting and walking around outside for two hours. The shade selection isn't that great only 7 shades but if you can find your color I would say go for it!! P.s sorry for the lack of pictures or links I am traveling a lot this weekend (look out for a journal in this weekend's adventures to make up for having a lazy noneventful weekend last week).

Weekend Journal | Lazy Day Sunday

This past weekend is one of those weekend where I totally would not have vlogged at all. Just because I was in PJs most of Saturday and all day Sunday.

Saturday:
Matt went to do the garden for Ms. B and I stayed home and did laundry/organize the apartment since Luz and Roberto were coming to watch a movie. Not going to lie I could have been more productive but I got to say that I wasn't that lazy either. Our apartment was clean for our guests, the only area I didn't tackle was a. the kitchen and b. the office. Both of which Matt has ultimate saying in. I enjoyed having frineds come over and even having someone else look with me at wedding center pieces for the table. We probably should have done more research but again: lazy weekend.

Sunday:
I should have not suggested we watch TV while eating breakfast but we hadn't finished an episode from Legends so Matt and I were curious as to how it was going to finish. Needless to say we spend most of the day in front of the TV. I noticed that Hulu had Naruto Shippuden and since I never technically finished watching the anime I was curious how they animated the last chapters. From there I wanted to watch Naruto: The Last, cause obviously I own it.... So yeah thats what we did these weekend. I wouldn't trade it for anything though cause all our other weekends seem busy for the next few months.

Weekend Journal | Target Shoe Hunt

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for the long absence. Honestly, it was hard to find motivation to write this past month.

So I've been going back and forth between either creating a Weekend Journal series either through youtube or through blog. In the end I decided to stick with blog form just because it lets me control how much of myself I want to put out there in the internet world.

This weekend was highlighted by two things:

1. My scavenger hunt for these Target shoes:

I recently started a new job. Which in contrast with my previous job, I work in an office with a standard 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. consistent schedule. I have to wear business attire so needlessly to say, my wardrobe needed some serious upgrading. (My previous job was being out in the community where some days I would dress in gym clothes based on the activities of my clients.) So I've been buying clothes here and there to get my wardrobe up to par with my new job. And when I saw these shoes at target (even though I didn't need new shoes) I thought these were perfect! But alas, of course they didn't have my size. And after a search through their online shoe selection, I could not purchase them online either. So my fiancee and I spent the weekend going to three different targets in our area to try to find them. In the end we found the pair pictured above, ideally I wanted the grey/olive pair but I wasn't able to find a pair. Luckily I scored this pair at the third target visit.

Just as an FYI the three target visits was in the course of two days. I wasn't crazy enough to do this all in one day XD

2. Wedding planning.

I recently got engaged to my boyfriend and this weekend was the first time we seriously sat down and searched wedding venues/vendors... and OMG WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE TO HAVE A WEDING?

We both came into this thinking a 15K budget would be enough to have everything we wanted but after this weekend... we seriously considered eloping and buying a house with the money we would spend on our wedding. But honestly, we both value our family and friends too much to elope without having them share our special day. As of right now the cheapest venue we found that would accommodate our guest count and have a view is 2,500. JUST THE VENUE. You have to account for food, cake, music, hair/makeup, and photographer venues as well. Plus there is also the question of buying the dress, tux, rings, and decorations/flowers for the special day. I finally understand why fiancee jokes around saying he missed the step after graduation where we were suppose to be earning 80K a year with our degrees.

Don't get me wrong there are lots of cheaper indoor venues but we both definitely want something with a view.

So what do we do? we also scheduled ourselves to view one of the venues... I'm not entirely sure if that is the right thing to do but I feel like I want to view the one place that has been my dream location since being here in San Diego. Actually hold on... there are two locations but the second location (small park/cliff area) in La Jolla Shores area is too small for our number of guest but I can look into surrounding areas/venues to see if we can find something available.

I guess another stress for the wedding is that before we even looked at venues we decided to lower our budget for the wedding. Remember that 15k budget? Yeah we cut it down to 10K so that gives us even less of a wiggle room. But the journey is just beginning so lets see how much we learn along the way shall we?
